80's Movies-The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club
I chose to look at "The Breakfast Club" for my secondary research as I really like how It portrays a particular time and place being the 1980's in America High school. I found that American culture was better to look at as they didn't have uniforms in schools and were able to express themselves through fashion. The characters themselves had stereotyped names and labels such as, Rebel John, he was seen as a rebel as not only was his personality meaning he is anti-social and the type of clothing the character wears makes him appear very rugged. The next character being "princess Claire", she was seen as a wealthy character as her parents were high classed people and her clothing was all prim and proper added with accessories specifically ones like diamond earrings and necklaces. Moving on to, "Outcast Alison", outcast meaning a person who has been rejected or ostracized by their society or social group. Her clothing to me tends to just scream unsocial as she covers every inch of her body head to toe and the way her hair is swept across her face seems as if she wants to be hidden. Another character being, "Brainy Brian", brainy meaning having or showing intelligence and in the movie Brian is known for getting good grades and being a know it all. The clothing chose for this character is pretty smart and simple implying that he is a well organised person. The last one of all, "The Jock Andrew", jock meaning an enthusiast or participant in a specified activity. In the movie he is seen as a very enthusiastic sportsmen and I can clearly see this as the clothing worn by the character is stereotypical sports wear such as Nike, which today is till a highly fashionable brand and is a global trend.
